I’m learning more and more about myself each day and I’m okay with what I’ve become and the changes I’ve made. It’s funny how I’m still learning stuff about me but I am! I’m a planner and as much as I’d like my future master plan to happen, it probably won’t and that’s okay. I need to learn to take each day as it comes and live life in the moment! I’m going to be 22 in three weeks and I want to live life to the fullest while I still can!

I start school on Wednesday. I’m excited to go back after my winter break. I really enjoyed last semester. I’m excited to see my friends again and meet my new teachers! Maybe I’m becoming a nerd? I don’t know, but I’m pretty excited.

I’m finally over my cold. I went to the doctor’s and he said that I did have an ear infection, but I didn’t have strep throat. He said that my throat was hurting because of the ear infection. He gave me some antibiotics and a note for work. My work actually told me I could have the rest of the week off, but just to be on call. I’m glad they didn’t call me to go in. It was nice having this week off before I go back to school next week!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas or holiday. I did! Even with every thing going on with my dad, we were able to have a great Christmas. On Christmas Eve, we headed down to my Grandmama’s house, which is less than an hour away. We arrived and played dominoes for a bit. Then we had a pasta dinner with crabs as an appetizer. My uncle gave a service and then we opened Christmas gifts. I got a gift card to American Ealge and a few shirts from there along with some other stuff. Then on Christmas day, we headed over to my Aunt and Uncle’s house for brunch and dinner. For brunch we had a chile rellano casserole and for dinner we had prime rib. It was so good.

Then the day after Christmas, we went shopping! I didn’t spend any of my gift card but I got two new pairs of shoes. My mom got a hoodie from American Eagle and when we got home I tried it on and then got one the next day. So I used my gift card.

I want to hold a contest on Oh Excite. I’m thinking of giving away a domain and hosting. You would just have to comment and refer people, what do you think?

Thanks for all the sweet comments on my last post. Tomorrow my dad goes in for a CAT scan to see if it has spread already and then on January 5th, he gets a bone scan to check if it’s spread to his bones. If not, then they start the radiation treatment. I hope all goes well.

OH! My work party was good. I had a fun time. I’m surprised only two people drank. My co-workers are crazy. I thought I’d be the only one NOT drinking, since I’m not 21. We went to a La Casita, which is a Mexican restaurant. It was good. We also did a Christmas gift exchange and I got a $25 gift card to Border’s. I had a great time.

I’m so glad my boss gave me Christmas Eve off! My parents and I will be heading to my Grandmama’s house that day. We’ll have Christmas Eve at my Grandmama’s. My uncle just recently became a chaplain so he will give a sermon at my Grandmama’s house. My uncle and cousin are going to bring their guitars and we’re going to sing Christmas songs. I’m excited. On Christmas day, we’ll head over to my aunt and uncle’s house, who live five minutes away from my Grandmama. We just got my cousin’s presents and I think we are all done now.

The only thing that would make my Christmas perfect would be to see Kathleen and Angelah. I miss them so much. I wish I had the money to fly down and go visit them. I wanted to fly down and go to Disneyland with Kathleen like we used too, but I just can’t afford it right now. I hope I can see them in January or soon.

I asked my boss for a raise and she said I can have on in May once I complete my core classes for ECD, but I’ll be a certified teacher on January 20. I’m kind of upset that I can’t have the raise sooner, but she plans on giving me a good raise so I won’t complain. It’ll be just in time for the summer once I go back to full time, which is good.

Am I the only one who feels like 2008 went be really fast? I mean, I feel like I just moved here and it’s already almost 2009. Remember Y2K when everyone was thinking that all the computers and what not would just shut down? I remember my dad was on call all the night because he worked for IBM. Glad he didn’t get called in! I can’t believe how fast time is flying by. I did so much this year; I moved, went back down to Los Angeles eight times, started school, went back to work, met new friends, and much more.. but for some reason I feel like I haven’t done much.

Anyway, I updated Wordpress, which took a while but I’m glad I did. I kept seeing the little update message everytime I logged into WP for a while. I think I skipped two or three new versions, but I waited until 2.7. I’m still getting used to the admin interface, but I think I like it. You should if you haven’t!

The holidays are supposed to be a happy time for people, but for me, it’s always been the bearer of bad news. In December of 2006, my mom was rushed to the hospital and we weren’t able to go on our Philippines trip (she was in the hospital up until Christmas Eve). Then on Easter of this year, my mom was in the hospital again. Then this holiday season, my mom had surgery for cataracts, which is really not that big of a deal because she’ll be able to see better, right?

Well, we just found out my dad has cancer. He has an aggressive form of prostate cancer. He will be starting radiation therapy in January. He needs to get a bone scan and cat scan before to check if it hasn’t spread to other parts of his body (since he has an aggressive form). Then, I find out my mom has this rare genetic blood disorder that I now need to get tested for. In the words of Nicolah, “when it rains, it pours.”

My dad feels fine. We are letting our family know about it. We are still going to my Grandmama’s for Christmas and we are all going to try our best to have a good time.

Edit New layout!

So, who is excited that Barack Obama won and is our new president? Well.. once he takes office. I’m so excited! I think I can finally see change in our future. I went and stood in line for 20 minutes and voted. I was so proud of myself. I think everything turned out perfectly for Obama. The only thing I would change about the turn out is Proposition 8. I really wanted it to be No.. but you know what? They still have some ballots to count (absentee, etc). I’m hoping it doesn’t pass.

I’m moving tomorrow and can’t wait to set up my new house. I’ll definitely take pictures and post them.. but probably not until Sunday or Monday. We are getting our new couch delivered on Sunday so I want those to be in the pictures.

Well I’m off to pack!

So, these past few days I’ve felt sick. I’ve been able to go to work but I’m living off of Day Quil and Claritin. I think I have a cold, but who gets a cold in the summer? I don’t think many people get sick in the summer. I’m really dreading the fall/winter seasons because I know I’ll get sick. I have such a low immune system. Well, enough of that.

I’m totally looking forward to watching The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. I watched the first one just to refresh my memory. I loved the first one. I don’t know if I’m going to see the movie this weekend or if I’ll wait for Kathleen to come up and go see it with her.

She and I have been talking about what we would do when she comes up. We have a few ideas. We know we want to go to the Winchester Mystery House because last time we went, we were both broke but now we both have jobs and money! We also will probably go to San Francisco. I want to go to Discovery Kingdom. So I’m excited! We already know what we’re doing when I go down there. We are going to Sea World and staying in San Diego for a few days! We are also going to see Angelah and I’m super excited about that!

Well, I think that’s it for now. I’m going to go watch my new obession: The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Yesss.

Today I finally bought my tickets to go down to Los Angeles. I knew I was going but I hadn’t actually bought the tickets because I didn’t want to see my money go, but I did it! I’ll be leaving August 28th and coming back September 1st. I’m excited. I’m going to go to Sea World with my besties. I’m totally excited.

Right now I have a major headache. I was hoping it’d go away since I took a 4 hour nap and Tyenol but nope. I’m sure being on the computer isn’t going to help but I figured nothing else is helping. Speaking of computers, did I mention I got a new computer? It was a while ago but I don’t think I ever mentioned it. I got this one:

I love it. I still have my laptop but I use this one more. My mom and dad use my laptop now. I was going to get another laptop but mine is still in good shape so I figured I’d get a desktop.

Anyway, I’m going to go rest my eyes. This headache is killing me. :cynical:
